Toddlers Can Help Out Too!!

Chores!!! This is one of the biggest topics of dispute in most homes. We have a large age gap between our boys so our little guy watches our oldest one helping around the house which in turn, makes him want to help out as well. This was the perfect week for these topics!

Monday our topic was cleaning up. Just like every other day, we started out with our calender and weather as well as adding the letter K to our alphabet house! Then we worked with the alphabet sweep activity. We combined this activity with the letter apartment building! Max would sweep a letter and then he would have to find the letter and place it on the alphabet apartment! We didn't get thought the full alphabet before he wanted to move to the next activity which was the Choose a Chore game. With this we took turns picking questions and placed a counter key that was provided with all of our supplies for this month, and placed them on the chore that we would choose to do. After a short break, we pulled out the play dough and hid our keys in the play dough. Then we had to dig through each color to find all 10 keys that we hid.

Tuesday was a really fun day! Who doesn't love laundry!! Today we placed the letter L on our alphabet house to continue building it and then jumped right into our planned activities. First up was making a washing machine our of a paper plate, cellophane, a blank sheet of paper and the clothes we cut out from the sheet provided. Max enjoyed this one. We left the clothes loose inside the plate so when he shook his paper, the clothes would "wash" in his project. Next was the math project. For this we used the math story cards and the key counters. This was very interesting to see how much Max really understood with math. He did AMAZING!!! I was so proud of him! We went through the cards twice before doing the last activity for the day. Laundry letters was a hit too! Each of the small letters we glued to the close pins and the larges letters were cut out and put into our "laundry basket".  Then, one at a time, Max pick a letter and found the corresponding letter and hung them up on our clothes line.

Wednesday was a big hit! Caring for pets is something was perfect! We have two dogs and max likes to share the responsibility of feeding and walking our dogs so he was extra excited about this topic. Once the letter M was placed in the correct spot on our alphabet house we started our creative art project. For our I Love My Pets book, we stapled the book together, glues the pet cards on each page, named them all and talked about what each animal liked to eat. The next activity in our plans was dog training. With this we used the bone provided with our supplies and played "Doggies Simon Says". He just held the bone while we played. This was fun because we had a friend over for about an hour and he was also able to join in on the fun. He was also able to join us for matching the bird and bird houses. The last project was Build a Bird. We flipped the cards with each bird body part on them and then, one at a time we flipped them over and glued on the corresponding part in the bird cage.

Thursday's topic was outdoor chores so we chose to do school on our back porch, so we put the letter N on our alphabet house and carried all of our stuff outside. The first activity Max wanted to do was the Build a Home Math game. We used the board game and pieces as well as the spinner and build four different homes. He really liked this game. We played three times before moving on to the Clean up Toys activity. In this activity, we learned about patterns and sorting. We used the toy bin sheet,  toys sheet and our cube with color in it. We rolled the color cube and then picked an item to place in each basket.

Fridays are always so hard to get motivated! Our topic for today was Welcoming Guests! It was a short day for us. We placed the letter P on our alphabet house and then started making our welcome sign with all the art supplies in our kit. Once finished, we placed it in a page protector and tapped it on our front door. We finished the week off by creating a menu for lunch and dinner. We folded a piece of paper in half, named our restaurant and attempted to draw what we were going to eat. What a great Friday!

I am over the moon with our Mother Goose Time Curriculum. They provide the lesson plans as well as almost everything we need to hold our daily lessons. Not worrying about planning what we are doing or if I have the art supplies to do some of the activities makes homeschooling our three year old so easy!
