Do you have monkeys jumping on your bed?

This week started off with a bang! Or should I say a SLAM? Day one of this second week with our Mother Goose Time curriculum was all about doors and windows. We jumped right into it by counting all the doors in our house! Turns out we have 14 doors in our house! Then we turned to counting windows.....that did not go so smoothly so we decided to go onto the next activity. We made a paper bag house. Max and I walked around our block and look at the color of our house and the colors of all the other houses in the neighborhood to allow him to decide what color he wanted to paint his house. He chose yellow like ours. Next, we got our key counters out that was supplied with our curriculum. Max LOVED these. I attempted to separate them in different colors or by 2's and 5's but he just wanted to see if any of the keys fit in our front door! We finished off the day with the matching door cards. This is always a well-loved game within our lessons.

Day two we decided to do lessons 7, the living room, and lesson 8, the kitchen.  Singing "In the living room" song was a lot of fun. We looked for shapes, colors and object to insert into the song. We then made a postcard for his brother who is away for the summer. Then we got out the shape cards for our cube and the geoboard. This was a really neat activity. Max had a hard time at first understanding the concept of making the shapes with the rubber bands but once he got the hang of it, he didn't want to stop! When I pulled out the noodles to make a noodle collage, he pushed the geoboard aside and was ready to glue! I wrote his name in a very light pencil and he glued the noodles on the letters for his name. This was a project he was VERY proud of. We took a quick snack break and jumped right into reading our I Make Food book. While I was reading this, I had Max use a noodle to point to the words when I was reading them. After reading we dumped the rest of the noodles into a bin with the alphabet cards and played the alphabet soup game. We had to find the letter and match it to the correct phonic card. This was fun but we only got through 13 letters before he was no longer interested. Maybe we can try it again next week to get all the way through it!

Lesson 9 was focused on the bathroom! I used this opportunity to teach Max about how we clean our bathroom! He loved scrubbing the toilet! Let's hope the excitement stays into his teens! We then hung up our hand washing sign and went through the correct steps when washing your hands. In our house, we sing "Happy Birthday" while soaping up. We talked about the bubbles he was making on his hands and it was the perfect transition to our bubble art! This was a great time but messy. I am really glad it wasn't windy outside because Max was able to make his bubble masterpiece in the backyard. After cleaning up Max, the porch, the dogs and my patio furniture we came inside, had a snack and utilized our bathroom pattern cards. This was another activity that took a few minutes to get Max to understand but once he did, he loved it.

We finished up our week with Lesson 10, the bedroom. Monkeys on the bed is one of Max's favorite songs so this lesson was exceptionally fun.  This was also a short lesson. We hung up our ten little monkeys poster and I had Max cut apart the monkeys, fold our napkin and make our bed to jump on. We finished off this week with the steam station, building beds. We used Duplo-legos and made beds for the monkeys Max cut out.

This week was a productive week with our Mother Goose Time curriculum. All the supplies and lesson plans were all provided to me in my curriculum box. If you have any questions about this curriculum or how I juggle it all, please reach out! I would love to hear from everyone. Have a great week! Excited for this coming week's topics that include cleaning up and caring for our pets.
