We have three full chalk sticks in our sidewalk chalk bucket, and we have about 37 pieces of chalk that are less than an inch long. I know my kids do not like to draw on the sidewalk and scrape up their fingertips and I really did not like the idea of just tossing all that chalk. So then what exactly are you supposed to do with those lonely pieces of chalk chunks? Check out this really cool way to use that chalk AND stay cool this summer!
These were super easy to make and my kids loved playing with them. First, you find all those tiny pieces of chalk and crush it up into a powder like substance. I used a ziplock bag and a rolling pin.
Once the chalk is all crushed up, pour the chalk into a bowl ( I used a measuring cup). Add a tablespoon of cornstarch, a half a cup of water and a few drops of dish soap and mix together.
Once you have it all mixed up, pour the mixture into the ice cube trays and freeze! The kids will love to color with them, and it will help keep them cool! I hope that your little ones love these as much as mine do!
